Primerica and its employees have a long tradition of volunteering time, resources and money to help improve our community. One of the long standing charity events our employees are proud to be a part of is the Gwinnett Coalition’s Great Days of Service.

In September, about 65 employees participated in this year’s project: revitalizing the Hi-Hope Center. Read the Gwinnett Daily Post’s interview with Renee Carter, Primerica’s program and events coordinator!

Primerica shared exciting news earlier today when we announced plans to move our international headquarters to a new state-of-the-art facility in 2013. The best part about this news is that it gives us the chance to serve our representatives and clients better.

With convenient access from Interstate 85 and Highway 120, we will be located on 30 acres inside Legacy, an 111 acre office park in the heart of Gwinnett County, Georgia. Our main entrance will be accessible from “Primerica Parkway,” which will be lined with Primerica banners to display our pride in the company.

Our new facility will be a centerpiece for our company and the dynamic community surrounding us. We have been proud to serve this state and the rest of North America for the last 34 years, and we are pleased that the new facility will allow us to better meet the needs of our representatives and our clients.

Our current campus includes 10 separate buildings, which is why we are looking forward to consolidating into one three-story building with two connected wings. The design of the new facility will allow us to streamline our business operations and greatly enhance our efficiency. The customized “build-to-suit” plan allows us to showcase Primerica and our exciting transition to becoming our own Georgia-based company following our successful IPO in 2010.

At our headquarters, we will be able to show visitors the way we’re working for our representatives, our clients and our community. We look forward to offering a tour unlike anything we’ve ever been able to do before. Watch the video below for a preview of what’s to come:

Primerica Home Office employees have generously adopted 100 Angels from the Salvation Army Angel Tree this year, committing to provide toys and clothing to children in need during the holiday season. The gifts will be delivered to children in the Gwinnett County area.

It’s holiday time, and for many families struggling through economic hardships, the season doesn’t hold the promise that it does for so many of us. Some parents need a helping hand in order to “make the season bright.” That’s why the Primerica Home Office has made the Salvation Army Angels program part of its regular calendar.

This year, the response was extraordinary. All 100 Angels were quickly adopted, and several extra items were donated! At least five bicycles and a crib were among the items contributed beyond the Angel list for whomever may need them.

The Home Office family has proven once again this year that, even during rough economic times, helping families is a Primerica way of life.

Founded by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976 and given long-time support by Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter, Habitat for Humanity is active in nearly 90 countries and in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.

The elderly population in Gwinnett County is growing, and while the county provides a multitude of services to make sure those who are “60 plus” are well taken care of, resources can sometimes become strained. Rather than see older citizens go without, a dynamic group of giving individuals volunteers their time, talent and cash to help local seniors maintain their dignity during their golden years.

For 10 years, the Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services (Friends) has assisted the county’s elderly by privately supporting or supplementing a variety of programs that directly address senior needs. One outstanding Primerica employee, Pam Tokarz, sits at the helm of Friends, directing aid efforts and drawing other Primericans into the volunteer fold. Tokarz has worked with Friends for five years. Before that, she volunteered at the Norcross Senior Center through a program sponsored by Primerica. Every quarter several Primerica employees would go to the Norcross Senior Center and serve the residents their lunch, play games, sing songs and visit.

Through volunteering at the Norcross Senior Center, Tokarz met Pat Port, who coordinated these events for Primerica and she also served on the Friends board. Port invited Tokarz to the board of directors meetings and she began volunteering at their fundraising activities. Before long, she joined the board. Tokarz became Friends’ president in January 2008 and is currently serving her second term as leader.

Food for the Soul
One of their most well-known partnerships is the Meals on Wheels food delivery program. Through Meals on Wheels, Friends annually sponsors many of its clients for meal deliveries. The non-profit group has also donated vehicles to Gwinnett County Senior Services. These autos are equipped with GPS systems.

Tokarz remembers the days when her grandmother was a recipient of Meals on Wheels. Gratefulness for the program – and a rearing based in service – propelled her to Friends. She says it’s a perfect fit. She adds proudly, “Friends is 100% run by volunteers and we are fortunate to have some very talented and service-oriented board members and volunteers. They come from all walks of life and are dedicated to helping seniors.”

More than Meals
As part of their tenth anniversary celebration in March, Friends board members went to the Lawrenceville Senior Center and visited with the residents. The 80 seniors in attendance played a “Name that Tune” game with selected songs from the 1940s and 1950s. A “Senior Idol” song competition sprang up, as well, and then morphed into a senior trivia game. Board members gave out gift basket prizes and every senior received an Easter egg. Tokarz recalls, “It was fun to see the seniors enjoying the music from their era and they really got in to it.”

It’s times like these that make Tokarz sure that she’ll work for Friends until she can’t physically do it anymore. Until then, she has a personal goal to reduce the number of seniors on the waiting list for services. The current monthly average on the waiting list is 190 seniors – up 43% from 2008. Tokarz says the needs are great and growing, and she invites any takers to get involved.
