For more than 30 years, Primerica has been in the business of helping Main Street families learn how money works. But the education doesn’t start and end with the parents. Primerica also believes that it’s never too early to begin teaching children about the importance of money management.

In 2005, Operation HOPE, Primerica and other local companies teamed up to help students in Atlanta successfully complete Operation HOPE’s award-winning financial literacy program, “Banking on Our Future.” To date, more than 20,900 Atlanta youth (501,726 nationwide) have been financially educated.

In July, Primerica donated $25,000 to Banking on Our Future to help the organization educate an additional 450 Atlanta youth in 2010.

“Primerica has always taken an educational approach with our clients to show them how to improve their financial futures. That’s why we’re so gratified to team with Operation HOPE and help teach students in our community about the basic financial concepts that will help them better prepare to make sound financial decisions as they move forward with their education and careers,” said Jeff Fendler, president and CEO, Primerica Life Insurance Company, and member of Operation HOPE’s Board of Directors.

Founded in 1996, “Banking on our Future” is Operation HOPE’s premier financial education program for youth ages 9-18 in underserved communities, emphasizing the value of learning to manage money and plan their finances effectively.

The program is of no cost to school districts, with a focus on urban, under-served communities. The program consists of five modules, I. Basics of Banking and Financial Services, II. Checking & Savings Accounts, III. The Power of Credit, IV. Basic Investments, and V. Dignity. In addition to financial education, the students are left with a message of empowerment, a message of responsibility, and most important, a message of HOPE.

Atlanta city leaders, reporters from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and top Primerica, Inc. executives met on June 17, to celebrate the return of Atlanta’s largest corporate meeting: the biannual Primerica Convention.

Primerica announced the return of our Convention to Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) and Georgia Dome, which will be held June 15-18, 2011. The Primerica Convention boasts more than 50,000 attendees and is expected to impact the local economy by generating more than $57.8 million.

“Signing for our 2011 Convention signifies a triumphant return as a Georgia-based public company,” enthused John A. Addison, chairman of Primerica Distribution, and co-CEO and Director of Primerica, to the gathered crowd. “Primerica’s representatives from all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico value this Convention as an investment in their businesses, and we are thrilled to be back and able to provide this opportunity for professional development.” Added chairman of the board and co-CEO D. Richard Williams, “By holding the event locally … we also support our hometown.”

ACVB President and CEO, William Pate, also expressed his excitement. “The conventions industry is an insurance policy for the city and the Primerica Convention plays a big role in Atlanta’s success.”

Primerica began holding its Convention in Atlanta in 1993. The event is so large it utilizes three wings of the GWCC, encompassing 1.4 million square feet of exhibition space. General sessions are hosted in the Georgia Dome in effort to accommodate Primerica’s thousands of attendees.

Imagine It! Board Member and Primerica CFO Alison Rand was proud to announce that Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta will honor Primerica for its “outstanding commitment to the wellbeing of children and families of our community” at the Museum’s gala, Amuse’UM, to be held on February 20, 2010.

Primerica Co-CEO Rick Williams served on the founding Board of Directors. Since officially opening in 2003, many Primerica employees and departments — from Community Relations to Publications — have contributed their time and talent to support the museum and its work with children.

“For nearly a decade,” says Rand, “the financial and in-kind resources that Primerica and its employees have provided have made a profound difference in the museum’s ability to spark imagination and discovery for more than 1,250,000 children and their caregivers. Through grant support, board leadership, committee involvement, graphic design and print services, Primerica has enabled Imagine It! to bring rich, innovative, hands-on learning experiences to families and schools in the metro Atlanta area.”

Imagine It! has created a unique place where children and parents can play and learn together about a variety of topics in a safe, fun and nurturing setting. Tens of thousands of disadvantaged children have been welcomed free of charge, and many provided with free transportation to the Museum, so that visitation barriers are broken down and resources are openly shared. Through extensive community collaborations, Imagine It! is mobilizing four of Atlanta’s most impoverished neighborhoods to engage parents in the education of their children using the educational tools of the Museum.

Primerica is proud to partner with the Museum and is honored to receive such recognition.
